Rick’s 21 years of service at MK Battery does not even make the Top-25 list of the company’s most tenured employees, but his four decades of experience in and around related businesses bring a wealth of knowledge to his position. Let’s learn more about Rick.
Rick joined MK Battery in 2001 as a Regional Manager in the northeast USA, later ascending to VP of Global Operations, and eventually transitioning into his current role as Vice President of Sales. Prior to joining MK, Rick spent most of his career in the Home Medical Equipment (HME) industry with roles in the delivery of services to patients at home, as well as coordinating care on behalf of large insurers.
For Rick, “joining MK Battery in 2001 was an easy decision as the company’s culture of quality and integrity was an attractive lure, especially when paired with the over-arching corporate mission of treating customers, employees, and stakeholders fairly and respectfully. I’m proud to say that this same culture endures to this day, and the foundation is built to carry it forward for many more years.”
Rick enjoys meeting new people and learning from everyone along the way. With his sales leadership role, he gets the opportunity to travel and meet with folks at all business levels, and this has allowed him to develop long-lasting professional and personal relationships. As for his colleagues at MK Battery, Rick enjoys coaching and mentoring, while striving to pass along the MK business philosophy and culture to the next generation.
Many MK customers are aware of the sincere commitment of all MK team members to provide the very best combination of quality products, world-class service and support, and valuable technical training to best equip its resellers to provide that same level of benefits to their customers. According to Rick, “until circumstances require an out-of-the-ordinary” response, the total dedication of our organization can sometimes be overlooked, but when MK is called upon in extenuating situations, whether it is a route driver making the extra trip after hours, or the warehouse supervisor meeting someone on the weekend to make sure their needs are met, that relentless commitment to taking care of the customer eventually shines through.”
“Working with people you like and trust while serving customers you enjoy doing business with makes going to work easy,” says Rick. As a new team member joins the organization and they meet their new coworkers, many with 15, 20 or 25+ years with the company, they rapidly realize that MK is a great place to spend a career.
When Rick finds some free time, he is fortunate that his family shares many of the same passions, whether it be for traveling and seeing the world, or staying a bit closer to home to share their love of the Los Angeles Dodgers. In a typical year, the Spiegel family will get to about thirty games to cheer on their beloved team, and it is always a terrific family affair. Just as he hopes to pass the MK culture to the next generation, he also is hard at work passing the family tradition of unwavering Dodgers loyalty to the next generation with his 3 ½ year-old granddaughter. He also enjoys refinishing and restoring antique furniture – “the worse the condition, the better the challenge!”
Looking into the future for MK Battery, Rick is “proud that MK continues to expand its product offering and geographic service areas to meet future opportunities and that we have a solid team to carry the company’s legacy well into the future.”
