One of our key values here at MK Battery is respect. Respect for our employees, respect for our customers and respect for our environment. We’ve all talked about sustainability and what it means to “go green”, but we wanted to take a minute to explain what that really means at MK Battery.

Impacts on Our Future Generations

When we think about sustainability, it’s easy to think about the present, but the concept has much more to do with protecting the future. If we can practice living sustainably now, we will help protect and preserve the planet for future generations. Lead batteries are one of the most recyclable consumer products in the world today.  Virtually 100% of a lead battery can be recovered to produce new batteries, and even the byproducts of the recycling process can be used in other applications.  MK Battery, through its parent company, East Penn Manufacturing Co., leads the way in recycling spent batteries, and does so through an EPA-approved process that removes the burden of legal battery disposal from its customers.

How We Do Our Part

It’s easy to preach what is important, but truly practicing it is what we take pride in. Our organization focuses on:

  • Reducing Air Emissions
    • Utilizing several measures to monitor and manage air emissions. Employing the most advanced air pollution control equipment available, our lead battery manufacturing facilities operate in controlled environments with elaborate networks of ventilation and negative air pressure systems to capture any lead particles that might otherwise escape to the outside environment.
  • Reducing Lead Emissions
    • Reducing lead emissions is a key priority for all lead battery manufacturers. Each year we continuously monitor air quality and take strides towards to continually reduce lead emissions.
  • Recycling Wastewater
    • A highly advanced treatment process recycles 100% of the industrial wastewater generated through the manufacturing and recycling process.
